122A Service Call: What the warning is about and how to resolve it

Updated on Oct 27, 2025

There are two possible scenarios that can cause the appearance of this error. The first one is a miscommunication between the RIP software and the printer. The second is in case the maintenance of the platen motion system is long overdue.

Miscommunication issue

STEP 1

Remove the USB or the LAN cable.

Note: Depending on the data cable you have chosen, pay attention to the following:

  • USB: Make sure it’s less than 2m long, otherwise it can cause data corruption.
  • LAN: It’s better to connect your printer directly to your computer and not via router .

Keep in mind that you may have to replace your data cable if frequent issues occur.

STEP 2

Restart the printer and on the Notice screens in the Printhead Control Panel select Proceed, Proceed and No.

STEP 3

Put your cable back on and restart the printer. On the Notice screens in the Printhead Control Panel select Proceed, Proceed and Yes.

STEP 4

Now you can carry on with your production.

Notes:

Caution: If you have a TexJet® echo2 unit with a Serial Number of xxxxHFExxxx or xxxxHGExxxx the above steps will not resolve the problem. Please contact our support team to help you.

Movement issue

STEP 1

Remove the back cover of the printer, in order to clean the PF disk that is responsible for the platen movement.

STEP 2

Very gently dust off any dirt or dust that may have gathered over time, in order for the sensor to be able to read the disk properly.

Warning: As simple as this process may seems, we strongly recommend that it is performed only by authorized technicians. The PF disk is very fragile and its mishandling can cause further damage, invalidating your printer’s warranty.
