1601 Service Call: What is the warning about and how to resolve it
The most often case that you may come across this error is when you are performing your daily maintenance. As you know, during maintenance you have to lock manually the printhead and then, the printer will also lock it electronically. If something goes wrong and the printhead is not locked, the printer indicates this error, in order to alert you. So, the first thing you should do is:
STEP 1
Turn off the printer. Lock manually the printhead by turning the gear anticlockwise. Turn on the printer.
If you have performed the maintenance procedure correctly and the printhead was locked, but the error is still showing, then check the following:
STEP 2
Make sure that the ink cover is closed, and its sensor is working. If the sensor is defective, it cannot inform the printer whether it is closed or not, resulting in an error as the printer tries to ensure that no part of the machine will stay open.
STEP 3
The printhead carriage is equipped with a sensor in order to be able to recognize the height and position of the printhead. This sensor is very sensitive, so if it is accidentally moved, then the printer cannot acknowledge the correct position of the carriage, resulting in an error.
Warning: If the sensors mentioned in step 2 and step 3 are not working properly, please reach out to a qualified technician or your local dealer for help. Don’t try anything that can put your machine at risk, as you may cause further damage and invalidate your printer’s warranty.
